National gold standard

We’re removing barriers in skateboarding and making the learning process enjoyable, safer, and more accessible for all.

As lifelong skateboard educators ourselves, we understand the pivotal role educators, camps, clubs, and skateboarding programs play in nurturing the growth of this great sport.

Step 1: Enroll in the Course

Sign up for the USSEA Skateboarding Certification as an individual instructor. No prior teaching experience is required, and all skill levels are welcome.

Step 2: Complete the Online Coursework

The certification course is completed entirely online and at your own pace. Most people finish in 3–5 hours while learning teaching methods, lesson structure, progressions, and movement fundamentals

Step 3: Complete Required Trainings

You’ll complete First Aid, CPR, trauma awareness, and SafeSport training. USSEA provides links to free or low-cost online options that meet these requirements.

Step 4: Submit Your Documentation

Upload proof that you’ve completed the course and required trainings for review by the USSEA team.

Step 5: Live Video Exam

After approval, you’ll schedule a 1–2 hour live video exam with a USSEA certified examiner. The exam focuses on your ability to teach safely, communicate clearly, and adapt instruction to different skill levels.

Step 6: Get Certified

Once you pass the exam, you’ll receive your official USSEA Skateboarding Certification. Certification is renewed annually to keep your skills current and your teaching supported.
